The journey for Kani Makou started seven years ago. In the early years backyard jams and baby parties made the calendar for Kani Makou. In 2003 Kani Makou recorded their first demo with Na Hoku award winning producer Dave Tucciarone. Later on that year the band moved on and recorded their first album, “easy stylin”. The album consisted of 12 songs including hits “ Rock N Groove” and “I wanna be her man”. Guest appearances by Karl Zinsman of Three Plus, Jon Yamasato and Toni Kaonohi also helped make the album special. Two years later in 2005 Kani Makou recorded their second album “cool state of mind”. Again under the direction of Dave Tucciarone, the band put another great album together. The album consisted of 11 songs. The band composed 9 originals including the hit “im waiting”. There are also cool covers of Big Mountains’ “once again” featuring Peni of Natural Vibrations and “So much things to say” by Bob Marley. Since then the band has traveled to the west coast and outer islands to share their music. They also have performed in many local concerts such as the Winterfest and the Kccn Birthday Bash.
